I would like to take this opportunity to update you with the latest happenings with our ministry. As you may already know, the Breadline and Going_greenFranciscans Deliver are now part of the same outreach ministry. We continue to provide daily food on the Breadline as we always have, while also providing groceries to those in our neighborhood that struggle with financial difficulties. Nearly all those who receive weekly deliveries of groceries from us are seniors, and disabled adults living in our Chelsea neighborhood. Both the existing breadline and newly formed Franciscans Deliver are now one ministry and together they comprise, Franciscan Bread for the Poor, Inc.

You should also know that Franciscan Bread for the Poor, Inc. is going green. Starting in July, all bags and cups and supplies that we use on the breadline and for deliveries will be biodegradable and safe for the environment. In addition, we are now using reusable canvas bags to deliver our groceries. It’s good that our plastic handle bags are now biodegradable as they are particularly damaging to wildlife killing thousands of fish and birds every day. I suspect that St. Francis, the patron saint of animals and ecology is very happy with our newest push to go green.

God bless you and again, thanks for your generous donation. It’s helping to change many lives.

Gratefully,

St. Francis Breadline,
Executive Director
Franciscan Bread for the Poor, Inc.
